Adding an additional driver when booking a rental car

The possibility of adding an additional driver to a rental car booking cannot usually be guaranteed. Depending on the rental car provider, it is possible to transmit information on additional drivers to the rental company during the booking process via Lanes & Planes after selecting the offer. However, this is only information for the rental company and does not guarantee that the additional driver can be registered.

Only with the provider SIXT is it possible to transmit information on additional drivers to the rental company during the booking process via Lanes & Planes. With all other car rental providers, additional drivers can only be added on site.

All additional drivers are only fully registered when the vehicle is picked up at the station. When picking up the rental car, the rental company can therefore add further drivers to the rental contract in addition to the main driver.

However, all additional drivers must be present at the time of collection in addition to the main driver.

If not all additional drivers can be present when the rental car is picked up, it is also possible for the additional drivers and the main driver to return to any rental station of the rental company after the pick-up in order to have the additional drivers added to the rental contract.
